Nissan may build diesel engines in US and add a four cylinder

The new diesel V-6 that Nissan will be installing the 2010 Maxima could end up being built in the US if Japanese press reports are accurate. The engines could be sourced from Nissan's engine plant in Decherd, Tennessee although Nissan is calling the report only speculation at this point. In addition to the Maxima V-6 a four-cylinder diesel may be added to the Altima. Currently Nissan's only hybrid is the Altima which uses technology sourced from Toyota although an in-house developed system is due around the same time as the diesels. Whether Nissan will continue with the hybrid development is unknown.
