Plug-in hybrids gunning for support in D.C. tomorrow

Ride and Drive at last year's EDTA Conference.

For a few hours tomorrow (Wednesday), plug-in hybrids will be opened for drivers in Washington, D.C. The rides, available from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., are part of s symposium on PHEVs sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE-USA, the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington DC and the Set America Free Coalition. I'm not sure if the average citizen will be allowed to drive the vehicles, but if last year's EDTA Conference is anything to go on, they will be. Which PHEVs will be available was not announced, but I'm guessing a converted Prius will be there.

The "Plug-in Hybrids: Accelerating Progress 2007" symposium and ride and drive will be at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Symposium speakers include Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), former CIA Director and Set America Free Founder James Woolsey and FERC Commissioner Jon Wellinghoff.
