EnerDel, the subsidiary of Ener1 Inc that recently got some cash from the Department of Energy for battery development will be making a big announcement next Tuesday. The company plans to show off a new lithium-ion battery pack that they have developed for hybrid vehicles. The pack is initially intended to go into hybrid vehicles but it will be developed further for use in plug-in hybrids and full battery electric vehicles. EnerDel is jointly owned by Ener1 and Delphi with the latter holding a minority 19.5 percent stake. The announcement will be webcast on the company's website. The pack to be shown is functional and will now be put into a test vehicle which they expect to have running by December of this year.[Source: EnerDel]
